Michele R. Davidson, PhD, CNM, CFN, RN, is Associate Professor of Nursing and affiliate faculty member, Women's Studies Program, George Mason University. She was Past Vice President of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives and was an item writer for the ACNM National Certification Examination. She received an honorary award from the March of Dimes for her ongoing care to pregnant women.

This book was required for one of my nursing classes. So far, it seems to be pretty comprehensive and easy to read. Some of the material is repeated, but repetition also helps with retention; therefore, this may be a positive or negative depending on your personal preferences.

There's a lot of information in this book at moms and babies. It was very helpful and explains things in simpler terms. I used this through nursing school. Along with lectures it helped me learn mom and baby concepts and how to care for them.

I had read another comment on how this book is not helpful on a kindle which made me nervous about purchasing it since it's for school and therefore important for me to be able to use well. I went ahead and bought it anyway due to time restrictions, and I have found that it must depend on which version/generation of kindle you have. I recently got a kindle fire HDX 7", and on this version of kindle, this textbook does have a table of contents and a search function. It's much more user friendly than I expected, thank goodness.

Saved money on this one. It worked great for me instead of the new version.

This is a great book but coming from someone who has to read 10ch a week between this, medsurg, and issue I don't even touch it.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0132956861/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2 is my go to book and it is really detailed cliff notes of the book.

This is a very informative textbook that addresses multiple issues from A to Z in obstetric and the neonate. I found that there was a duplicity of topics from chapter to chapter, but overall a good text to learn the information.
